Energy and Exergy Analysis on Zeotropic Refrigerants R-455A and R-463A as Alternatives for R-744 in Automotive Air-Conditioning System (AACs)

The popularity of vehicles and the increased time spent in cars with air conditioning systems has led to regulations many countries that require use environmentally friendly refrigerants minimal global warming zero ozone depletion potential (GWP ODP). Cars need high-performance, eco-friendly reduce their impact on environment, lower fuel consumption, decrease carbon emissions. aim current work was propose CO2-based blend zeotropic refrigerants, R-455A (R-744/32/1234yf) R-463A (R-744/32/125/1234yf/134a), improve thermodynamic performance pure CO2 refrigerants. energy exergy analysis system optimization an AAC for new refrigerant blends compared dioxide (R-744), using Aspen HYSYS software, were investigated. influence cooler/condenser pressure, average evaporator temperature, outlet flow rate cycles’ COP efficiency conducted are presented. results showed that, at same operating condition parameters, cycle improved by 57.6 76.5% when R455A R463A instated R744, respectively, advantage reducing leakage problems due higher pressure R744 (5–7 times than those R463A), as well requiring heavy equipment, but optimal had a maximum 14.58 14.19, respectively. COPs R455A, based 3.1, 4.25, 5.4, Additionally, regarding acceptable environment contribution warming, is recommended systems.
